Apothecary

Current obsession. On a hunt for a couple apothecary jars. I have a few hundred corks that need a home. Also some twig balls and maybe a few other objects that would look stunning in the sparkly glass containers. I was even thinking of separating my wine corks from my champagne corks and even my Patron corks. Let me know what you think.

Of course I had to post some inspiration photos.
Enjoy!

These are just stunning. If anyone knows where they are from
please let me know!

Love the desk accessories.

My fav.

Photo from YoungHouseLove. I bought this same glass container
over the weekend.

Spring Cleaning

Cleaning, organizing, cleaning, cleaning, purging, cleaning and cleaning. Yes, my house is a disaster. Currently in the stage of one roomie moving out and a new roomie moving in, we decided it was a good time to tackle the townhouse. I have been there for almost three years and the wear-and-tear is showing. Plus the amount of items a person, roommates or family accumulate in their home over time can be overwhelming.

So far we have been through every closet and storage area. We have wiped through the garage. Purged and reorganized the kitchen cabinets. Spackled all dents, bruises or holes in the drywall. Did a complete paint touch-up and even repainted some accent walls back to our over all neutral color. Many trips to the dumpster, in pajamas.

I love that feeling of re-designing, reorganizing, refreshing.
It will get there.
Eventually.

Dwell Studio and Blog

I have added a new Blogs to Love (right hand side of page) called Dwell Studio. Many of you might have already heard of Dwell - they have killer home decor, bedding, furniture, gifts, baby and kids. I am most intrigued with their amazing prints. Hip, urban and vintage inspired.

Founder and Creative Director Christiane Lemieux of Dwell Studio also offers a new book, Undercorate. She takes an unconventional approach to creating a beautiful and comfortable home. She encourages home owners to show their personality in their home decor and to push aside stuffy, over designed spaces.

Just a little eye candy from Dwell Studio, some of my favorites.

So check out the site and their blog!

Sneak Peek

Wanted to give my blog-readers a sneak peek of my office expansion. I have been working on this in-house project for about six months and it has been an interesting adventure! Since our office is staffed with Architects and Interior Designers, everyone has had their own opinion and ideas. At first, I welcomed these and wanted my co-workers input. But eventually I learned that too many hands in the cookie jar was not working out.

I am extremely happy with the end result and am enjoying my new home, a.k.a. my cubicle. I will do a post in the near future with the entire transformation but for now enjoy our War Room makeover!

Let me know what you think!

TIA Article

Airport Improvement Magazine has published an article on Tampa International Airport's Baggage Claim Improvement! I did a post a couple months ago with final images from the renovation, check those out here. If you are not aware, the baggage claim renovation at TIA is a recent project of mine.

There is also a digital copy to view here, pages 32-36.

Renovation, Renovation

Excited to post this kitchen remodel completed by my roommate, Tracy, and her boyfriend, Nick. My dear roomie (also an interior designer) assisted in the design decisions for Nick's kitchen remodel. Nick recently bought a house in South Tampa and has been fixin' up, renovating and refreshing his new space. Among many other fixer-upper tasks, his kitchen has been non-functioning for the past couple months, enduring a grueling construction schedule. But I think all the waiting has been worth it!

A note from Nick:

"The first time I walked into the home (even prior to buying it) I knew what I wanted to do with it. The goal was to open everything up, but I didn’t have the personal time to do all the work. I had to hire a contractor.  If you have ever watch "Holmes on Homes," he does a great job scaring you with examples of horrible contractors. I did a lot of research on kitchen remodel projects, contractors and more to start budgeting. I had about 5 or 6 contractors give me a proposal on the floor plan and work I wanted complete. After several contractor visits, I found one I was extremely comfortable with and a quote that fit my budget.
This was a tag-team project between my girlfriend, Tracy, and I. Tracy picked layouts and colors while I did all the research on pricing, contracting, and brought in a touch of reality to her expensive taste. We even had to make some changes once the walls and cabinets were installed, switch granite colors and open up a walkway. All in all, I now have a $1 million kitchen in a $150K house.
After all the research and meetings, I still did a horrible job at choosing a contractor. They did extraordinary work and really made the place look great but the 6-8 week project lasted 6 months. They were consistently unresponsive and weeks went by without a contractor onsite to do any work."

And the stunning after photos:

He included a new Kohler touch faucet as well (above).

Beautiful job Nick and Tracy!

Oink Oink

"How cute is that pig!"
I keep finding myself making this statement...and I'm sure the pig is not even cute half the time. I would say it has been a draw over the past year or so and the obsession is slowly increasing. To better explain, anytime I see a pig statue, painting, photo or whatever it may be, I am glued. I want it. Have to have it. And let me back up a bit further and let you all know that I was born in Des Moines, Iowa. I think this is where the pig addiction is truly rooting from. My toys I have held onto from my youngster days are all pigs.

Some of my new accessories for the house refresh are cute little pigs!
(I am not pig-crazy, I swear)

I will leave you with this photo by Sharon Montrose.
Check out The Print Shop to purchase her prints.

How adorable is he??

Artwork Refresh - DIY

I am a huge fan of taking your own photos, editing, printing and using as artwork throughout your home. Having Photoshop as a tool is always a plus but most simple editing programs will allow you to adjust red eye, change to black and white, crop, etc. So no excuses people! I even upload them onto Walgreens.com instantly for printing and pick them up on my way home or while running errands.

Simple, personal artwork.

I have been working on a few of my own for my living room refresh. These photos were taken by my roommate, Nicole, while she lived in South Africa. How beautiful are these? In keeping with the black and white/neutral theme, I edited the photos and played with their contrast.

I adore these photos and cannot wait to display them!

I also picked these up recently from IKEA. In love.
