Wood or Porcelain Floors

Can you even tell the difference? All the flooring installations pictured below are porcelain tiles...with a wood look. More and more manufacturers are creating beautiful replicas of wood plank floors in their tile lines. Numerous looks, patterns and coloring are available and from experience there seems to be a big difference between the manufacturers and looks they offer. Some were a good try and others are dead on. The average person would not be able to tell the difference. Looking to use this look on an upcoming project!

Maharam

One of the top leading, performance driven textile and wall covering companies in the commercial design world. When I think of or use Mahram it is because I am looking for something unique. Their upholstery fabric patterns come in numerous geometric, colorful, designer designs and some even have a narrow niche in which they can be used. Huge fan.

I wanted to share the Digital Projects series included in their wall covering (wall paper for those of you in the residential world) collection. With several dozen images and patterns to choose from, this series of custom, digital graphics allows the user to apply a piece of art to a wall. I am showing some examples below but visit their link for the full collection.

What do you think? Would you ever use any of these?

Kollection

It's Friday the 13th and I am giving myself permission to not be so nice. Stumbled across the Kardashian Home Kollection (see what they did there) that is sold exclusively at Sears. I have always enjoyed following the Kardashian family with their realty show, brands, business' and crazy lifestyle. But I have to admit I am not impressed with this "Kollection". Take a peak here...I can't even get myself to post the photos on my blog.

Terrarium

I am not a plant person. I do not have a green thumb. I cannot keep a cactus or bamboo plant alive. I pity the tiny, leafy plant on my desk...I think it has had about 14 lives. Love the idea of a terrarium with some slow-growing, easy greens. Originally got some inspiration from my girlfriend Milly's condo (see full condo post here) where she created a corner for exotic air plants using Shane Powers Hanging Glass Bubbles from West Elm. Cactus, air plants or any slow growing indoor plant will work. I think this might be more my style.

Above is Milly's air plant corner in her beautiful condo.
Below is some more inspiration.
Enjoy!

Modular Arts

Sometimes I take for granted all the innovative and creative products I see and use on a daily basis. As designers we are bombarded with so many products and manufacturers that it can be hard to keep up with it all. Not to mention the amount of new products that are introduced to us on a weekly or monthly basis. I try to keep a small portion of my brain available for this data base of ideas but not all of them seem to fit. Figured it would help if I share more of them with my Live Love & Repeat readers.

One unique product that has been around for awhile is Modular Arts dimensional walls. This manufacturer creates a wall panel, tile or block that can be used in both commercial and residential applications. The continuous walls create an uninterrupted, sculptural feature and contain no plastics or VOC's, making this product earth friendly.

Here are some stunning residential installations:

And some commercial installations:
